Orthodontists recommend an evaluation for children by the age of 7. Why so young? By that age, the teeth and jaws of your child are developed enough for the orthodontist to be able to identify future problems.

If there are problems, actual treatment usually doesn’t start quite that young.

That said, addressing problems at an earlier age is ideal. Research has shown that serious orthodontic problems can be more easily corrected when the skeleton is still growing and flexible. So ultimately, starting treatment earlier while baby teeth are still present can result in fewer and less severe problems for the permanent teeth that will eventually come in.

But no matter what age your child is, at Dental Care Orthodontics we provide the highest possible standard of care in a positive, kid-friendly, caring environment.

Having a healthy bite and correctly aligned teeth is about more then just appearance since these conditions can lead to things like:

  • Speech impediments
  • Difficulty chewing or biting
  • Sleep apnea caused by mouth breathing
  • Grinding or clenching of the teeth
  • Jaw or TMJ pain
  • Gum disease and tooth decay
